Last week when I went to deliver Meals on Wheels, we were told that Trader Joe's had given them some flowers we could deliver to our clients. When I walked into the room, I spotted this orchid plant and just about exploded, "An orchid!" So they gave the plant to me!
This shows the size of the blossoms.

When I heard that Jodi Picoult, my favorite author, was writing for Wonder Woman comics, I had to get one. Well, I will not need to get any further issues and my opinion is that Jodi should stick to her books. Maybe I'm just too old!

April is Autism Awareness Month.
  • Autism is the fastest-growing serious developmental disability in the US.
  • 1 in 152 children is diagnosed with autism.
  • 1 in 104 boys is on the autism spectrum.
  • 67 children are diagnosed per day.
  • A new case is diagnosed almost every 20 minutes.
  • More children will be diagnosed with autism this year than with AIDS, diabetes, and cancer combined.
  • Autism costs the nation over $90 billion per year, a figure expected to double in the next decade.
  • Autism receives less than 5% of the research funding of many less prevalent childhood diseases.
  • There is no medical detection or cure for autism.

This is an ocean ball I bought in Hyannis. It is a hand blown glass ball which has a rubber stopper on the bottom through which some sand, small shells, and small stones were placed. The stopper also allows me to open it up and insert my own treasures. I did add two of the tiny birds found inside a sand dollar which my grand daughter had.

Last night my husband and I went to hear the Smother's Brothers at Orchestra Hall. Such an enjoyable evening-I don't know when I laughed as hard as I did! Even thinking of some of the jokes after the program made me break into hysterical laughter.

Flameless Candles which are on a timer, so come on every day at the same time and stay on for five hours. They are so realistic-even have a slight fragrance.

The rain has stopped temperarily and the sun made a feeble attempt to shine for a few minutes earlier today. The rain gauge shows two inches of rain in the last week.

Rhubarb. The last few days a good question to ask is, "Think the rain will hurt the rhubarb?" (That's a typical Minnesota question-along with the rhubarb.)
